Refurbished Items: Selecting the Correct Condition
Selecting the correct condition for your item is one of the most important steps when building a SKU or creating inventory.
Here are guidelines to follow when determining the item condition:
- New: A brand-new, unused, unopened item in its original packaging, with all original packaging materials included. Original protective wrapping, if any, is intact. Original manufacturer's warranty, if any, still applies, with warranty details included in the listing comments.
- Certified Refurbished (A Grade/Renewed): A pre-owned product that was inspected, tested and certified by the manufacturer or vendor to work like new. The product has minimal to no signs of wear, no visible cosmetic imperfections when held 12 inches away, and may arrive in a brown or white box with relevant accessories that may be generic. The product comes with a warranty giving you a replacement or refund within 90 days of purchase if the product does not work as expected.
Note: Electronics which have a 'skin' on them are not sufficiently qualified for this condition grade. - Refurbished (B Grade): A pre-owned product that was inspected and tested to work like new. The product has minimal to no signs of wear, no visible cosmetic imperfections when held 12 inches away, and may arrive in a brown or white box with relevant accessories that may be generic. The product comes with a warranty giving you a replacement or refund within 90 days of purchase if the product does not work as expected.
- Scratch & Dent Refurbished (C Grade): A pre-owned product that was inspected and tested to work like new. The product may have visible signs of wear, visible cosmetic imperfections when held 12 inches away, and may arrive in a brown or white box with relevant accessories that may be generic. The product comes with a warranty giving you a replacement or refund within 90 days of purchase if the product does not work as expected.
- Used-Good: A well-cared-for item that has seen limited use and remains in good condition and functions properly. Item may show some limited signs of wear with small scratches or cosmetic blemishes. Item may arrive with damaged packaging or be repackaged and could be missing some accessories. Missing accessories are clearly defined for each item.
- New-Open Box: An item that is unused but has a unsealed package. This is typically an unused item that was returned. The item is in excellent, new condition with no functional defects. The item includes accessories found with the original product and may include a warranty.
