When creating SKUs it is very important to understand the relationship between product UPC and how that reflects your listing data to channels which have their own internal catalogs (Amazon, Walmart, Newegg, etc.).
The UPC (Universal Product Code) is a unique identifier assigned to a product by the GS1 organization. It is used to track products throughout the supply chain, from manufacturing to retail.
When you consider refurbished products, the UPC is an identifier to listing data within channels catalog and is unique from the New condition products. For example, Amazon Renewed ASINs have a different UPC than the same product in a manufacturer "NEW" condition. *Please note that EAN's cannot be used when creating a Quipt catalog record. They can be used for linking purposes but not stored within Quipt's master catalog.
Best Practices:
Using our UPC and Condition Matrix, establish a strategy on which items need UPC generated by our UPC allocation tool or have UPC assigned by a Renewed (Certified Refurbished) Amazon ASIN or a (New) manufacturer UPC. *If you input a valid UPC that has been registered erroneously on Amazon, Walmart or Newegg, this will cause your listing to link to that improper listing.
