eBay Variation Listings

Quipt automatically handles variation grouping during item publication. If multiple items share the same Variant Key, Quipt creates a single eBay listing with variations instead of individual listings.

Swatch Image Requirements

Enable Variation Listings in the eBay Partner Settings 

A swatch image is mandatory for any product that may be included in a variation listing.

Swatch images can be added to the product details section of the product. To add this, go to Inventory, search for the SKU > Edit product
Edit Product Details

Add swatch image in the Product Images Section.

Key points:

• The last swatch uploaded is used as the master swatch for the variation group.

• If a swatch image is missing, listing creation will fail.

• Ensure each item in the group has a swatch image associated with it.

Recommended practice:
Upload clear, consistent swatch images to every completed product.

Variant Key Generation

Quipt automatically generates a Variant Key using product attributes such as model, configuration, and other underlying characteristics.

Automatic Grouping

• When two or more items have the same Variant Key, Quipt automatically groups them into a variation listing.

Manual Adjustments

Users can manually modify the Variant Key to:

• Group items that Quipt did not group automatically.

• Ungroup items that have been grouped incorrectly or grouped in a way that isn't how a user would want.

Creating a Separate Listing

To ensure an item is published as its own standalone listing:

• Overwrite the automatically generated Variant Key with a unique value.

• This disassociates the item from existing variation groups.

Linking to Existing Variations 

Quipt Variant Key needs to match the eBay Variation SKU. 

• If the variation was created manually, you will need to use the overwrite function to ensure the Variant Key in Quipt, matches the eBay Variation SKU (Custom Label)

Notice how the custom label on the variations are different than the individual Quipt SKUs associated with that variant. This is an important distinction. 

In this case, the variation custom label was created manually or before the automated variation tool was created. And to link to existing variations, you will need to use the overwrite tool in Quipt to match the Variation Custom Label in the Quipt Variant Key.

Quipt currently supports eBay variation listings in the following categories:

• Smartphones

• Smartwatches

Additional categories may be added in the future.
