Notes on Integration:
Our inventory templates are constantly changing (new products features, new requirements, new partners, etc.) so most clients find it most useful to use our API to set-up the skeleton on their SKU and then use the web app to complete all the necessary content. Most of our vendors are unable to support complete content. A great deal of maintenance and management goes into the ability to fully support content. Most vendors supply a data dump to Notes along with the SKU, Condition, Title, and Quantity, and then they complete the build in the web app.
For most vendors we work with, the API is used to manage pricing and quantity. The API is built to allow a company to complete an item, but this can be burdensome due to changing and various requirements for content. All the vendors we receive inventory from supply some high level data, pricing, quantity, and use the web app to complete the one time build process from Incomplete Inventory.
The only piece of data that Quipt requires via API is the item SKU. This gives each partner the flexibility to supply whatever data they can via API, and then complete the item in the UI. The UI will point out to you exactly what required data is needed to complete the SKU.
You will see attributes that appear to be identical in both "Inventory" and "Catalog". This is because the catalog shares data, but the Inventory is partner specific. You can use our 'Create' flow to use an already existing item. There is also a Flags property on inventory to request a match lookup by UPC or Manufacturer+MPN.
Explanation on Certain Requirements
URL to MSRP, Features and Spec Sheet:
-Many retailers require that we provide a link to the site that lists the MSRP value. Overstock and Groupon are examples.
-Many retailers also require at least 4 bullet point features to create items on their site. The spec sheet URL is required by at least one retailer, so it is a global requirement.
MPN's:
MPN's are required and 100% necessary. They are required to be unique. It is not required to be a published number, but it is helpful if we are attempting to use a match with a retailer- either by UPC or Manufacturer/MPN.
What's Included:
-Many retailers want to know what will be in the packaging. In the case of something like a "remote control", it might be the "remote control" and "2 x AA batteries". If it is a "water filter" it may just be "water filter". Only 1 item is required.
Valid Category Selection:
The first step of the inventory create flow is category selection. This is required. If you are getting an error "Select Similar or Product Category", then you are likely not inputting a valid category. If you do not see a category that best fits your item, please reach out to your liaison so we can best support you.
